Getting Debussy

Sunday Chatter

By Samantha Anne Carrillo [ Sat Jan 19 2013 5:00 PM ]

Even eclectic music fans sometimes fail to take full advantage of Burque's diverse soundscape. For instance, I've been holed up listening to obscure '80s dark wave, synth-pop and post-punk. Since moderation is the key to long-term maintenance of any aural addiction, I've been jamming more classical music lately, too. But even a ridiculously high-end sound system can't mimic the sonic experience of a live classical performance. Oh, the strings! Give your sympathetic nervous system something to write home about at Sunday Chatter. Tomorrow, the Chatter ensemble performs Claude Debussy's “Sonata for Cello and Piano” and Gabriel Fauré's “Sonata for Violin and Piano.” Poet Jeanetta Calhoun Mish will read from Work Is Love Made Visible, which explores her family's farming background. Get there at 10 a.m. to indulge in the complimentary espresso bar. General admission is $15, but full-time students and folks under 30 pay only $9. Tickets for children under 12 are $5.
