The Reverend Al Sharpton Is A Big Phony

I know I watch too much late-night network television, but damn, I can’t resist back-to-back episodes of “The Outer Limits” and “The Twilight Zone.” Anyway, since people who watch late-night network television might not have a job, or enough money to afford cable, we can probably deduce that the demographic is of low socio-economic status. Thus there are tons of commercials for payday and title loans, a predatory lending tactic aimed at exploiting the poor. Interest rates sometimes climb to 200 percent, and borrowers end up drowning in debt.

Spokespersons include mostly “common man” types, but have also included Gary Coleman and Mr. T. The latest and most shocking addition to the group is the Reverend Al Sharpton, who typically tries to serve as the spokesperson for the exploited. He is now shamelessly promoting predatory lending. I think a “what a spineless such and such” is in order here.
