Fri Feb 3: Eye See

The Albuquerque Photographers' Gallery is a co-op financed by a group of about 10 shutterbugs. The project started in 2003 and moved to Old Town in April 2011. Its first juried show, In the Mind's Eye, is on Friday. The gallery put out a call for submissions and received more than 100 photos, which it edited down to 30 images from 18 photographers, all on display at the exhibition. The theme is "What is your vision of the world?" If you're scratching your head on that one, you're not alone. After viewing some images from the show, however, I can assure you that there's some fascinating work involved. As member Tom Spross says, "We purposely left it open." (Sam Adams)

Sat Feb 4: Rockin' Stroll

Since its release, The Lemonheads' 1992 album It's a Shame About Ray has touched many a young heart. Catchy pop melodies and sweet, sweet guitar riffs are juxtaposed with punk thematics. The album is a cult classic and arguably the band's best work. Perhaps The Lemonheads think so too because it's on tour now playing the album in full. Hear it live--and see rock and roll dreamboat Evan Dando in the flesh--on Saturday at the Launchpad. Gorge on a late-night aural buffet of talented local rock and country music on Saturday. Self-described "minimetalindierock" duo Pancakes! performs along with indie rock duo Fart House, country soloist Steve Hammond (Leeches of Lore, Tenderizor) and string-heavy, contemporary rock sextet Young Lungs.
Sun Feb 5: Remember the Titans

Unless it's sacrilege to leave the house during the Super Bowl, your family can explore the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science (1801 Mountain NW) and its offsite educational facility, the Sandia Mountain Natural History Center (60 Columbine, Cedar Crest), without paying a cent this weekend. That's because the first Sunday of the month is always free for state residents. The brand-new Dinosaur Century exhibition at the Natural History Museum chronicles 100 years of fossil discovery in New Mexico, or stop by the Sandia Mountain center for a 10 a.m. lecture on dinosaurs that lived in the Land of Enchantment. Visit nmnaturalhistory.org for more information. (Adam Fox)
